The Lash in Downtown Los Angeles closes its doors
DTLA will be without one of its cherished clubs in 2023.
Announced yesterday, The Lash has closed its doors for good. Launched back in 2013, the club was home to a slew of DJs spinning music ranging from city pop (Tune In Tokyo) to hip-hop (DJ King Marie).
In a 2013 interview with The LA. Times, club designer Erik Hart of Atelier Projects said this about the place:
“Right above the bar it says, ‘Wish you were here,’” says Hart pointing to a neon sign written in Russian. “Maybe somebody is sitting at the bar thinking of a distant friend, and the space helps enhance and soothe that sense of longing — of wanting to share the experience with someone else.”
As expected, people in the region are upset by the sudden news of the club’s closing.
