The Bevis Frond announce rescheduled 2025 U.S. tour
English rock band The Bevis Ford will return to the U.S. in 2025.
The band’s forthcoming tour will be their first in the region in 25 years. They were previously slated to return this fall but were forced to reschedule to next year. The trek kicks off on February 28 inside Somerville’s Crystal Ballroom, and it’ll conclude on March 12 inside Los Angeles’ Lodge Room.
Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now here.
The Bevis Frond will be supporting their new album Focus on Nature, which is out right now on Fire Records. The band recently released their live album Live At The Great American Music Hall, which was recorded during a performance at the San Francisco venue back in 1998. Vocalist Nick Saloman said this about that particular show:
“I’d been a big fan of the West Coast Music Scene since the 60s. I was buying albums by the classic San Fransisco psych bands, when I could afford to, since I was about 14, so it was always a big deal for me to get over to the USA and play there. When we finally got to play in San Francisco in the late 1990s it made that particular dream a long overdue reality. We were a three piece back then: me on guitar, dulcimer and vocals, Adrian Shaw on bass and vocals and Andy Ward on drums. I remember getting to The Great American Music Hall and being knocked out by the grandeur of the place. Outside, a homeless guy was talking to me, and when he realised I was English, he immediately started speaking in a faultless upper class English accent, then said; “toodle pip” and wandered off pushing a shopping trolley. The venue was packed and very receptive, and I recall being a bit concerned that we might not be ‘psychedelic’ enough. I needn’t have worried. The gig went really well. After it was over, someone handed me a phial of colourless liquid saying it was ‘primo Owsley acid – the real thing’ and that it was amazing. As we had a gig the next day in L.A, we gave it to our support band, Brother JT & Vibrolux. We were gigging with them again a few days later, so we asked them if they’d made use of it. Apparently they had, and as a result they’d gone off into the woods to look for Bigfoot. They didn’t think they’d found him, but couldn’t be quite sure."
So now, over 25 years later, I’ll be back at The Great American Music Hall, and I’m pretty sure it won’t have changed as much as I have. A bit like buildings, if people survive long enough, they pass the ‘threat of demolition’ stage, and become venerated, which seems to have happened in a small way to The Bevis Frond. I just hope my old walls don’t collapse under the strain. I might need to be re-wired and have my plumbing seen to, but I can’t wait to play there again.”
