Thursday, September 10

Takeover @ UCB Theatre (5919 Franklin Ave.)

Doors: 6:50 p.m. (tickets)

Co-hosted by Alice Brenner and Ruby Karp, Takeover lets random members of the audience become stand-up comics for a bit. A handful of comics will do a five-minute set followed by a chosen audience member finishing the rest of their set. The comics set for Thursday's show are Catherine McCafferty, EJ Marcus, Kylie Vincent, Lisa Wallen, and Leonard Smith Jr. Livestream tickets are also available.

Friday, September 11

Beverly @ The Pack Theater (1615 North Vermont Ave.)

After being part of Pack Theater's house improv block, Beverly has graduated to holding their own show every 2nd Friday of the month. Come witness the improv team delivering laughter with some special guests. Beverly features Joshua Ewing, Sarah Glassman, Lee Gordon, Katie Johantgen, Lena Lamer, Jade Lacy, and Gabi Marler.

Cold Waves Festival @ Pacific Electric (1729 Naud St.)

Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets) 18+

Cold Waves Festival takes over the Pacific Electric for two days featuring some beloved and new faces in the world of industrial music. Friday will feature anniversary performances from Stabbing Westward (Wither, Blister, Burn & Peel), 16 Volt (Let Down Crush), and Acumen Nation (Territory = Universe). Saturday will feature a headlining performance from The Black Queen alongside acts such as Forever Grey, NGHTCRWLR, and Houses of Heaven. Two-day and single-day passes are available.

Video Games Live @ San Gabriel Mission Playhouse (320 South Mission Dr.)

Video Games Live makes its return to Los Angeles with a pair of shows at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse (the second show goes down on Saturday). Backed by the San Gabriel Valley Symphony, this event will feature music from Minecraft, Studio Ghibli, Expedition 33, and more.

Saturday, September 12

Revolution 2: Improv To Save Music @ WGIS (1615 N. Vermont Ave.)

Doors: 8:50 p.m. (tickets)

Improv duo Revolution 2 will gather a slew of improvisers and musicians to save music at WGIS. 15 improvisers will be split into three teams to help deliver performances that'll inspire improved music from the live band. Revolution 2's Lexie Skye and Marco Torres will perform a set based on lyrics from the improvised tunes.
