The 10 most anticipated albums of 2022

With 2022 finally here, it means a whole new year of great music being released. Fortunately, a slew of acts have been hard at work in the studio to drop a new album in the months ahead. We look at 10 upcoming albums that will deliver some righteous tunes in the new year.

Violet Blend - Demons - Eclipse Records

On April 1, Italian alternative metal band Violet Blend will unveil their sophomore studio album Demons via Eclipse Records. For the 13-track release, the band worked with producer Alessandro Del Vecchio, who is best known for working with old school metal acts Quiet Riot and L.A. Guns. Kavinksy - Reborn - Astralwerks

Back in November, electronic producer Kavinsky shocked fans by coming out of hiatus with a new single ("Renegade") and a new studio album. Reborn, which will be the follow-up to Kavinsky's 2013 debut album OutRun, will be released sometime in 2022 via Astralwerks.

Porcupine Tree - Closure/Continuation - Music For Nations/Sony

Porcupine Tree fans have waited a long time for a new album from the beloved prog-rock group. On June 24, the band will release their highly anticipated record Closure/Continuation, which will be the follow-up to their 2009 Grammy-nominated release The Incident. Future Palace - Run - Arising Empire

Berlin metalcore group Future Palace will drop their sophomore studio album Run on June 10 via Arising Empire. The 12-track record, which follows the band’s 2020 debut album Escape, already looks promising with the previously released bangers "Heads Up" and album opener "Paradise." Stabbing Westward - Chasing Ghosts - COP International

Industrial rock band Stabbing Westward will drop the long-awaited follow-up to their 2001 self-titled album on March 18 via COP International. Titled Chasing Ghosts, the 10-track album will reunite the band with producer John Fryer (Ungod and Wither Blister Burn + Peel) and mastering engineer Tom Baker (Wither Blister Burn & Peel and Darkest Days).

The Warning - forthcoming studio album - Lava Records

The Warning had a productive 2021 with a major label debut, an appearance on Metallica's tribute album The Metallica Blacklist, and a festival performance at Welcome To Rockville. The new year will find the band unveiling the follow-up to their 2018 studio album Queen of the Murder Scene.

Beautiful Machines - Singularity - Republic of Music

U.K. darkwave duo Beautiful Machines will hit the reset button with their forthcoming studio album Singularity. The forthcoming release takes inspiration from Fritz Lang’s influential 1927 sci-fi film Metropolis.

Future Static - debut album - Wild Thing Records

Australian alternative metal group Future Static ended 2021 with the announcement of their new singer Amariah Cook. With their single "Waves," they've given fans a taste of their forthcoming debut album, which will arrive in the second half of 2022.

Avenged Sevenfold’s forthcoming album

Metal act Avenged Sevenfold have been working on the follow-up to 2016's The Stage for a few years now, and they might drop the finished product this year (if they can properly tour in support of it). In a 2020 interview with Kerrang!, vocalist M. Shadows stated the new material is a complete 180 from what they delivered on The Stage.
