Super Nintendo World's new opening date revealed
Super Nintendo World will arrive early next year.
Today, Universal Studios Japan revealed Super Nintendo World will have its opening date on February 4, 2021. The theme park area was slated to open this past summer, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus.
Super Nintendo World will feature three attractions: Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge, Yoshi's Adventure, and special Power Up Band Key Challenges. When it comes to the power up bands, Universal Creative senior vice president Thierry Coup said in a press statement:
“The “Power Up Band” will connect guests with dozens of iconic Nintendo items throughout the land in a truly seamless and innovative way – and the app will keep track of their adventures and any coins, stamps or other iconic elements they earn along the way. There will be opportunities to advance through achievements, keep score, compete against each other and celebrate together when you win. I think the seamless integration of the gameplay is one of the most innovative experiences we have ever created at Universal Studios.”
Construction on Super Nintendo World began back in 2017. Overall, the theme park cost around 40 billion yen ($351 million) to make. You can check out photos from the park below.
Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal's Epic Universe will also have their own Super Nintendo World theme parks in the near future. More information about Super Nintendo World can be found here.
