Sucker for Love: First Date wins Best Indie Game of 2022 at Digital Dragons Awards
Lovecraftian dating simulator Sucker for Love: First Date has earned a major award for its efforts.
The game, which was developed by Akabaka and published by DreadXP, earned the title of Best Indie Game of 2022 at the Digital Dragons Awards. Sucker for Love: First Date developer Joseph Hunter said this about earning the award:
“Honestly, I’m stunned. I didn’t think that a visual novel could win, period. Sucker for Love tends to score lower with critics/reviewers than with the target niche, so I’m really relieved that the folks at Digital Dragons took to the quirkiness, and that the risk I took with the game’s direction landed! It’s encouraging, too — it means I can make the next game even weirder.
But really, I’m grateful ya’ll helped Sucker for Love come so far, and I hope to meet your expectations with the future titles.”
Released in January, Sucker for Love: First Date allows players to romance three Eldritch goddesses with their own personalities. The game is available on Steam, the Epic Game Store, and Itch.io right now for $10.
