St. Louis indie rock band Shady Bug release new single "Favor"
St. Louis indie rock band Shady Bug unveiled their new single "Favor” on Monday.
Guitarist/vocalist Hannah Rainey said this about the song:
"Favor starts out with just a bass line, leading to the verse “always doing somebody a favor, favor, favor after favor…” I wrote the bass inspired by a Stereolab song, although the vocal melody in ‘Favor’ really makes this the pop song of the record in my opinion. [Producer] Alex Molini said this was my Shania Twain song lol.
I wrote ‘Favor’ about being a people pleaser. The song was inspired by working on myself, with some added snark. In the lyrics I talk about how I feel like I step out of my body and go through the motions and don’t even realize I’m doing things I don’t want to do to make others happy. I hope other pushovers listen and can relate!””
“Favor” comes from Shady Bug’s new EP What’s the Use?, which arrives this Friday (June 30th) via Exploding In Sound Records. Pre-orders for the album can be made here.
This July, Shady Bug will embark on an East Coast tour in support of the record. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now.
