Two rising names in pop music have united for a new throwback banger.

Released today, Sophia Dashing and Manda Malina’s new tune "Raindrops (on your pillow)" is a queer love anthem that’s musically reminiscent of early 2000s R&B. For this track, the duo enlisted producer Jayce Cantor, who has been gifted the title of “gay Max Martin” for their work with queer artists. Cantor said this about working on the song, which can be heard here:

“Given the song’s queer WLW vibes, I was dedicated to ensuring that the lyrics and structure authentically represented those experiences and conveyed genuine flirtatiousness.”

Dashing has been busy unveiling a slew of singles, which garnered one million streams worldwide. Malina, who unveiled their debut album ladylove last year, recently performed at Electric Daisy Carnival’s Salvage City.

Since 2009, MP3s and NPCs owner Terrance Pryor has written about music, conventions, cosplay, and video games for publications such as AXS, Examiner, Fake Walls, and Ranker. Based out of Los Angeles, the former rock concert promoter/radio host can be seen talking about rock music on AXS TV’s Music’s Greatest Mysteries and discussing music and whatever else on their Black Man Talks Rock channel on YouTube.
