13-year-old Sofia Gillani unveils new single "Ain't A Game"
Rising singer-songwriter Sofia Gillani has unveiled their new single "Ain't A Game" today.
The animated music video for the song, which you can see below, was directed and animated by Solomon Watkins with the assistance of several other animators, including Hannah Eve Sailsbury, Jacob Watkins, and Daniel Kaszas. We spoke to the London-based artist about their new track.
What inspired the new song "Ain't A Game"?
“Ain’t a game” was inspired by a couple where one side of the relationship is treated as a game. I wanted to be able to write a song where it has the perspective of another person rising up and telling the person that they aren’t playing games anymore, this song then being made.
When it comes to songwriting, who are some of your biggest influences?
My biggest influences would have to be Sia, Adele, Ariana Grande, Sickkick, and AJR when it comes to song writing.
The music video for the track features the help of several illustrators. What was that experience like?
It was amazing being able to work with so many talented people and being able to create my vision through animation, lots of work, and tons of laughter. Overall, an experience I will never forget.
Are there any musical artists you'd love to collaborate with in the future?
I would definitely like to collaborate with other musical artists in the future, but for now, there aren’t any specifics. Right now, I’m recording and building up material in the studio by myself, with the time of quarantine, but I would love to work with other musical artists at some point in the future!
