Semisonic vocalist Dan Wilson has unveiled their first single of 2021 today.

The track “Under The Circumstances” can be heard below. When it comes to the tune, Wilson said:

"I wrote 'Under the Circumstances' a few months back in a moment of both deep pandemic dread and interpersonal conflict. I was feeling so mad at someone in my life, and I suddenly remembered the dire and bizarre situation we all were trapped in, and I just wanted to make peace with them.”

During the pandemic, the artist unveiled new singles on a somewhat monthly basis and released the Words + Music in 6 Seconds card deck, which is a tool to help songwriters craft the perfect song. Wilson said this about the deck:

"The W+M6S cards are about forging collaborative relationships, seeking a community, testing out ideas in front of an audience, and writing better songs. The world of collaboration is full of mystery for many of us, and the cards put a special emphasis on how to make the most of our time together in creative pursuits. I know those of you who use the deck will agree.”

Aside from Semisonic, Wilson is known for co-writing hits such as Adele’s “Someone Like You,” The Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice,” and John Legend’s "You & I (Nobody in the World)."

Semisonic will be performing at First Avenue in Minneapolis on Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th. Tickets for their September 9 show are on sale right now.
