Sarah Siskind announces new album 'Modern Appalachia' and 2020 U.S. spring tour

Nine years after the release of their album Novel, singer-songwriter Sarah Siskind will unveil a new collection of tunes with Modern Appalachia. For the 12-track record, Siskind enlisted the help of guitarist Mike Seal, drummer Jeff Sipe, and bassist Daniel Kimbro. This release also includes guest appearances from Bill Frisell, Rose Cousins, Julie Lee, Elizabeth Foster, and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

The music video for the album’s first single “In The Mountains” can be seen below. “This is the first song I wrote when I moved back East after 14 years in Nashville, originally to rural Virginia for three years before settling in North Carolina,” Siskind said in a statement. “When writing this song, I let go of all thought process and just channeled what I felt being back in an environment where mountains, water, and nature-based quality of life are paramount. This song has become an anthem for me, for my return to the Southeast, my faith, and my need to discover who I am as a complete human.”

Pre-orders for the album, which will arrive on April 17, can be made here.

Siskind also revealed dates for their U.S. spring tour, which kicks off on April 24. Tour dates can be seen below.
