San Fermin announce new album 'Arms' and 2024 spring U.S. tour
Brooklyn indie rock band San Fermin will deliver their fifth studio album next year.
Announced today, Arms will be released on February 16 via the band’s own label Better Company Records. A new single from the album titled “Didn’t Want You To” has been released with an accompanying music video directed and edited by Katrina Peterson.
Bandleader/composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone said this about the song:
“I had this feeling after going through a breakup, like, ‘well screw you, if you don’t want to be with me, I don’t want to be with you,’ which turns out to be a pretty universal feeling. The wordplay was fun, messing around with different inflections of the refrain to hint at different meanings.”
Ludwig-Leone wrote the album after two relationships came to an end:
“I was going through a crisis. My relationship of ten years had recently ended, and then, not thinking very clearly, I dove into another relationship. Before I knew it, that one ended too.”
Longtime San Fermin vocalist/producer Allen Tate said this about working on the forthcoming release:
“The way this band is structured with Ellis writing the songs and Claire and I singing them, I’ve always felt like my role is to be both a mouthpiece and a filter. When you go through a breakup, you deal with so many different feelings in such a short period of time, and I tried to just be there to listen and help harness the fire hose of emotion Ellis was experiencing so we could distill it down into its purest form.”
San Fermin will support the album with a spring trek across the United States, which kicks off on March 23 at The State Room in Salt Lake City. The full tour routing can be seen below. Tickets will go on sale to the general public tomorrow (October 27) at 10 a.m. local time here. Pre-orders for Arms can be made here.
