Return to Silent Hill teaser trailer has been unveiled

A first glimpse of the forthcoming Return To Silent Hill film has been delivered.

Released yesterday, a 40-second teaser trailer for the film is available to watch on Bloody Disgusting’s YouTube channel. Return To Silent Hill is the third entry in the Silent Hill film series, which earned $155 million at the box office worldwide. This film is based on the 2001 video game Silent Hill 2, which recently earned a remake courtesy of Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, The Medium).

Return To Silent Hill is directed and co-written by Christophe Gans, who wrote and directed the first Silent Hill movie. Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, Treadstone) will portray James Sunderland, Hannah Emily Anderson (The Purge, Jigsaw) will take the role of Mary, and Evie Templeton (Pinocchio, Lord of Misrule) will portray Laura. Templeton also portrayed Laura in the Silent Hill 2 remake.

A synopsis for the film reads:

Return to Silent Hill brings the iconic horror franchise back to the screen. When James receives a mysterious letter from his lost love Mary, he is drawn to Silent Hill—a once-familiar town now consumed by darkness. As he searches for her, James faces monstrous creatures and unravels a terrifying truth that will push him to the edge of his sanity.

Return to Silent Hill will be released in theaters on January 23.
