NYC rock band Retail Drugs, which was founded by Jake Brooks of Laveda, have joined the Angel Tapes roster.

Announced today, the band will unveil a plethora of new music on Fire Talk Records’ imprint label. The first piece of music released on the label is the track “Person A.” An accompanying music video for the song, which can be seen here, was directed by Brooks and Retail Drugs drummer Josiah Martuscello. Brooks said this about the new single:

“‘Stairs’ was the catalyst for ‘Person A.’ The first iteration of that idea was a day-drunken LA jam between me with a mic plugged into a guitar amp, Joe Taurone on guitar, and Dan Carr on sample finger drums. I came back to it at home in Troy while cooking pasta one day. My bass was unplugged so the voice memos sound less listenable than the final version. ‘Person A’ and ‘Dubl Vision’ were also written during this crazed pasta making writing spree. I was doing this low guttural shout talking trying to mimic the distortion of the amp. I eventually came back to all those ideas and finished them.”

More music from Retail Drugs will be unveiled soon.
