Photos: Makoto Shinkai's pop-up installation event at Los Angeles' Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
A plethora of anime fans made their way to Los Angeles’ Academy Museum of Motion Pictures to celebrate the career of anime filmmaker Makoto Shinkai yesterday.
On the fifth floor of the building, fans were greeted to a grand installation showcasing the early beginnings of Shinkai’s classic anime films. Early storyboards from titles such as Voices of a Distant Star, 5 Centimeters per Second, and Children Who Chase Lost Voices were present for fans to witness in person. There was also a massive Suzume photo op for fans looking to dive into the world of the titular character.
At the Ted Mann Theater downstairs, fans were able to view Shinkai’s beloved films Your Name, Weathering with You, and Suzume, which was recently added to Crunchyroll.
