Pallbearer announce new album 'Mind Burns Alive' and North American tour
Arkansas doom metal band Pallbearer will unveil their fifth studio album this spring.
Announced today, Mind Burns Alive will be released on May 17 via Nuclear Blast Records. The six-song release was self-produced by the band at their own Idlewild Audio studio and at Fellowship Hall Sound. The band began working on the record in 2019, but recording sessions for the release were postponed in 2020 and 2022 before they finally hit the studio in 2023. Vocalist/guitarist Brett Campbell said this about the new release:
“These songs are a deeper exploration of dynamics and sonic color than anything we have done up to this point. I’m of the belief that true heaviness comes from emotional weight, and sometimes sheer bludgeoning isn’t the right approach to getting a feeling across.”
A new song from the album titled “Where The Light Fades” comes with a music video directed by Dan Almasy, which can be seen below. Pre-orders for Mind Burns Alive, which is the follow-up to Pallbearer’s 2020 studio album Forgotten Days, can be made here.
Pallbearer have also announced a North American headlining tour slated for the summer. The trek will feature The Keening as the opening act on all dates with special guests Rwake (June 6 to 9; 29), REZN (June 11 to 29), and Inter Arma (July 11 to August 3) joining the trek on select dates. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday (March 22) at 10 a.m. local time here.
