NewDad release new single 'Say It'
Irish alternative rock band NewDad have unveiled their new single “Say It” today.
The track, which can be heard below, is the opening track to NewDad’s forthcoming EP Banshee. The five-track release, which arrives on February 9 via Fair Youth Records, was co-produced by frequent collaborator Chris W Ryan with mixing done by John Congleton (Lana Del Rey, Phoebe Bridgers).
The band said this about the new song and upcoming EP:
“Say It’ is about unrequited love, about when someone is with you but not really, it’s supposed to capture that frustration you feel when you’re giving someone your all and they’re giving you nothing in return. The fast pace of the song makes it feel like I’m venting which works considering the feelings of irritation and bitterness I’m talking about when you don’t want to like someone but you can’t help it.
This EP is definitely bigger, having more time in the studio definitely meant we got to experiment more and layer more into each track so there’s an overall bigger sound! The main themes of this EP are restlessness and anxiety, during lockdown that’s how myself and most people were feeling so that’s what inspired a lot of the writing.”
NewDad will head to the United States in March for performances in New York City, Los Angeles, and an appearance at SXSW. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now.
NewDad’s previous EP Waves landed on our Best Albums of 2021 list.
