New RoboCop video game arriving in 2023
Everyone’s favorite cybernetically enhanced police officer RoboCop is returning to the video game world.
Announced today, a brand new RoboCop game titled RoboCop: Rogue City is in development by Teyon, who previously worked on Terminator: Resistance and Rambo: The Video Game. The game, which is being published by NACON, features an original story set in the RoboCop universe.
NACON CEO Alain Falc said this about the new game:
"We're delighted to be teaming up with MGM to offer a new vision of a popular franchise that was created over 30 years ago. This game is the perfect fit to pursue our aim of offering different gaming experiences to the widest possible audience.”
MGM Executive Vice President Global Consumer Products and Experiences Robert Marick said:
“We’re very much looking forward to collaborating with NACON and Teyon to bring one of MGM’s most timeless I.P.’s back to gaming platforms with a brand-new story. The film is known for gripping action and complex storytelling, and we are excited for RoboCop fans to experience this first hand through the game.”
A teaser trailer for the game can be seen below. The game will arrive on consoles and PC sometime in 2023.
RoboCop will celebrate its 35th anniversary next year. A new film titled RoboCop Returns has been in development since 2018. The film, which is being written by original RoboCop writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, is a direct sequel to the original 1987 film, ignoring the following sequels and 2014 reboot.
