NBA 2K23 announce new MyCAREER experience, J Cole featured on cover
NBA 2K23 will deliver an interesting new take on its highly popular MyCAREER mode.
Revealed today, the mode will allow players to conduct off-court activities such as pursuing a music career, become the next big name in fashion, and run a successful business. During this mode, the player will run into hip hop artist J. Cole and Dreamville artists Elite and Bas. This experience will only be featured on next gen consoles. An announcement trailer can be seen below.
Another major announcement is the reveal of J Cole on the cover of the NBA 2K23 DREAMER Edition, which will launch exclusively at Gamestop this fall in North America on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S.
J Cole said this about being part of the game:
“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture. It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game, but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the DREAMER brand into NBA 2K. There’s also more to come, so watch out for all things Dreamville and DREAMER brand drops during Seasons and for Bas and Elite in this year’s MyCAREER story.”
Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at NBA 2K also said:
“The sheer scale, depth and talent featured in this year’s MyCAREER creates an unparalleled experience within NBA 2K23. At the top of that list of talent is our first cover star who truly sits at the intersection of basketball and music. Bringing a visionary like J. Cole and DREAMER into the creative process for both the game and the soundtrack showcases the pillar of culture that NBA 2K23 has become.”
The soundtrack for the title will include 50 tracks at launch, and it’ll add three new songs each Friday. Some of the songs slated to appear in the soundtrack include “Surround Sound (feat. 21 Savage & Baby Tate)” by JID, “Megan’s Piano” by Megan Thee Stallion, “Rapstar” by Polo G, and “Nail Tech” by Jack Harlow. The official playlist can be found here.
