On Monday, Elliott will be honored at the MTV Video Music Awards with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. This award is given to those making major contributions in music. In “Throw It Back,” Elliott spits, “So many VMA's that I could live on the moon.” Aside from Monday’s win, the artist has earned seven VMA wins, including two for Video of the Year (2001’s "Lady Marmalade" and 2003’s "Work It"). Elliott is the first female rapper to gain this award.

Since 2009, MP3s and NPCs owner Terrance Pryor has written about music, conventions, cosplay, and video games for publications such as AXS, Examiner, Fake Walls, and Ranker.
