Midsummer Scream 2024 in Long Beach (photos, review)
Despite taking place during a certain comic book convention, Halloween/horror convention Midsummer Scream still managed to pack the Long Beach Convention Center this past weekend with over 50,000 attendees of all ages.
The Showfloor Stage featured a plethora of live shows for those looking for some entertainment at the sold-out convention. Those interested in theatrical performances were delighted by an excerpt scene from Sweet Sorrow, a Zombie Ballet, which will make its return this October to the Lanterman Auditorium in Flintridge (tickets can be purchased here). Those looking for live music were astonished by Selene Serene - The Queen of Halloween, who brought a nifty magic trick alongside their performance of "Summon Me." The annual Poltergeists and Paramours Fashion Show also took over the stage with a showcase of new attire alongside some performances from their dance crew.
When attendees weren't checking out the live entertainment, they made their way to the Hall of Shadows. This dark area offered a slew of attractions, including the Haunted Car Wash, Pizza Planet Truck & Art's Sideshow, and The Haunt With No Name. Attendees had to look over their shoulders, though, as random costumed individuals gave them a surprise shriek when they least expected it. The exhibit hall brought a slew of vendors selling goods, including Crafty Geek Girls, Insane Haunt Productions, and Rattlehead Crafts.
