Homeworld 3 is delayed to February 2024
Previously set for the first half of this year, Homeworld 3 has now been delayed.
Revealed today, the game has been delayed to February 2024. In a statement on Twitter, developers Blackbird Interactive said:
"Our primary goal is to deliver a Homeworld experience that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of this series' incredible legacy.
Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be exactly that, but in order to fully realise that vision we need more time to refine and polish the game.
We deeply appreciate your passion and dedication to this game, and we are working hard to get Homeworld 3 to you as soon as we can.”
Homeworld 3, which is being published by Gearbox Software, follows the events of 2003’s Homeworld 2. The title was originally slated for a late release in 2022 before being delayed to 2023.
A synopsis for the game:
100 years ago, Karan S'Jet unlocked a vast and ancient hyperspace gate network that opened up the entire galaxy to trade and exploration. A golden age for her people began. But a darkness known as the anomaly began to spread, swallowing gates and planets alike. With her people's hard-won peace and prosperity threatened, Karan led a fleet into Anomaly space to search for answers. She never returned. Now Imogen S'Jet, Karan's successor, is the only one who holds the key to unlocking the mystery threatening the galaxy's future.
An all-new, co-op capable multiplayer mode extends your game beyond the campaign. Fusing Homeworld’s RTS gameplay with roguelike structure, one or two commanders take on a randomized series of fleet combat challenges. Manage your fleet strength across each battle and claim powerful rewards with each victory. Based on your results, you’ll unlock incredible powers that carry over run after run.
Homeworld 3 can be wishlisted on Steam and the Epic Games Store right now. Those looking to dive into the universe of Homeworld can pick up Homeworld Remastered Collection, which includes both remastered and original versions of the first two games, on Steam right now.
