HIDIVE to air action-fantasy anime HELCK in Summer 2023
Anime streaming service HIDIVE is adding one of the most anticipated anime series to its roster this summer.
Revealed yesterday, HELCK will arrive thanks to animation studio Satelight, who are best known for producing Black Summoner, WorldEnd: What Do You Do at the End of the World? Are You Busy? Will You Save Us?, and Macross Frontier. The series will be directed by Tatsuo Sato, who is known for their work on Martian Successor Nadesico, Ninja Scroll: The Series, and Shigofumi: Letters from the Departed.
The anime will be co-written by Toshizo Nemoto (Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island, Log Horizon) and Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-a-Girlfriend, Digimon Adventure tri.) Yoshihisa Hirano, who previously worked on Hunter × Hunter, Death Note, and Ouran High School Host Club, will compose the music.
John Ledford, President of HIDIVE said this about the show, which is an adaptation of Nanaki Nanao’s manga series:

A synopsis for the show reads:
A certain country in the demon world. The Demon King was defeated by the hands of one of the heroes, and a competition was held for the title of the New Demon King. The Imperial Four Heavenly Kings Vermilio, who is in charge of the tournament, is furious at the participation of the human hero Helck, who is supposed to be her enemy. After receiving news of the fall of the castle of Urum before the final, Vermilio sets out to retake Urum Castle with Helck and other finalists. With a smile, Helck says, "Let's destroy humans."
