Gouge Away announce new album 'Deep Sage,' release new single "Stuck in a Dream"
Florida hardcore band Gouge Away will unveil their third studio album this March.
Announced today, Deep Sage will be released on March 15th via Deathwish. The band began working on the 11-track album in early 2020, but lockdown managed to shut down any sort of progress. Last March, the band decided to record at Atomic Garden East with producer Jack Shirley in the studio. For this album, Gouge Away opted to record most of it live with vocalist Christina Michelle recording in a separate room from the rest of the band. Michelle said this about giving Deep Sage a live feel:
"Recording live and to tape creates an intense environment where we have no choice but to feed off each other’s energy. We have to get it right in one take and if anyone messes up we all have to start over, so no one wants to be that guy. It adds an element of risk and excitement. We don’t want to sound beautifully polished or perfect anyway. We want to sound like the five of us being human, and no one is better than Jack Shirley when it comes to capturing what it feels like in the room."
To celebrate the album’s announcement, Gouge Away unveiled the first single (and opening track) from the album titled "Stuck in a Dream" is out on digital services right now. A music video for the track, which was directed by Caleb Gowett, can be seen below. Pre-orders for Deep Sage, which follows Gouge Away’s 2018 studio album Burnt Sugar, can be made here.
On February 24, the band will open for Ceremony at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium alongside Infest, Soul Search, and Blazing Eye. Tickets for this show are on sale to the general public right now here.
