Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed announced, set to arrive later this year

A new Ghostbusters game will be unveiled later this year.

Announced today, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, which is being developed by Friday the 13th: The Game developers IllFonic, will be released in Q4 2022 on PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. In the title, players can choose between hunting down ghosts as a member of the Ghostbuters or they can play as a ghost with the intention of haunting everyone around them.

Before each mission, players can upgrade their abilities and equipment at the beloved Ghostbusters firehouse. The asymmetrical 4v1 game will feature cross-platform multiplayer, but there’s AI available for those looking to get things moving solo in offline mode.

It wouldn’t be a Ghostbusters game without some familiar voices. Ernie Hudson and Dan Akroyd will lend their voices to their iconic characters from the movies.

IllFonic CEO Charles Brungardt said this about the title:

“Ghostbusters is one of the most beloved IPs in the world, so we are pulling out all the stops to make something special and accessible to this diverse fanbase. If you’re someone who loves the movies or asymmetrical multiplayer games, this was made for you.”

More information about the game will be revealed soon.
