Ghost of Tsushima anime announced
Ghost of Tsushima will be diving into the world of anime.
Revealed at yesterday’s CES 2025 press conference, an anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is currently in production via Aniplex and Sony Music. The Takanobu Mizuno-directed series will feature animation from Kamikaze Douga and a script from Gen Urobuchi. The series will launch in 2027 on Crunchyroll.
Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll said this about the newly announced anime series:

The Ghost of Tsushima anime will offer fans an exciting new way to experience the game in an anime style that will be bold and groundbreaking.”

“Having already proven the immense quality and versatility of our gaming properties across multiple successful film and television projects, we couldn’t be more excited to announce our first ever anime adaptation. Ghost of Tsushima’s rich, immersive world and its fantastical Legends mode based on Japanese mythology provide the perfect canvas for this project, and Aniplex is the perfect partner to translate Sucker Punch Productions’ hit video game into a stunning new anime series.”

Released in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima would sell 13 million copies and earn a plethora of awards, including Adventure Game of the Year at the 24th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. A sequel titled Ghost of Yōtei is slated to be released later this year on the PlayStation 5. Aside from the anime series, a film adaptation is also in the works.
