A familiar face will return to Taking Back Sunday.
Today, Fred Mascherino revealed plans to replace guitarist John Nolan on Taking Back Sunday’s forthcoming co-headlining tour with Coheed and Cambria. Mascherino joined the band at their recent performance at Great South Bay Music Festival. The guitarist was a member of Taking Back Sunday from 2004 to 2007 and appeared on the classic albums Where You Want to Be and Louder Now. A video message from the band can be seen here.
Nolan said this about exiting the band temporarily:
“The band has always prioritized family, but finding the right balance between being at home and being on tour is always difficult. Coming into this summer I realized I needed to dedicate time to the well-being of my family. Adam and Shaun understood, and we worked together to find a way for the tour to move forward without me. My first thought was to reach out to Fred and luckily that made sense to everyone, and he was happy to participate.”
Mascherino also said:
“Playing with Taking Back Sunday again was something I'd been wanting for a while, but it feels surreal now that it's happening. For me, it's a story about healing. We were young back then and I needed to learn things about myself. I reconnected with Adam a little while ago and was just trying to rebuild the friendship. That makes this bigger for me than just being on the stage. That said, I’ve always been grateful these songs have endured, and I’m excited to play and sing them with everyone this summer.”
Tickets for Taking Back Sunday’s forthcoming summer trek are on sale to the general public right now here.
