Flying Nun Records Australia announced
Beloved record label Flying Nun Records will be branching out to Australia.
Announced today, the New Zealand-based label will be stationed at Oh! Jean Records record store, which is in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Through this partnership, record stores in Australia will be able to have easy access to Flying Nun Records’ catalog. It also means Australians don’t have to spend more time waiting for orders to come from New Zealand.
Oh! Jean Records’ Zach Powell said this about the partnership:
“I have been collecting all things Flying Nun for over 30 years, so I feel great pride to be working with the label that means the most to me. I look forward to helping showcase and grow this important indie label here in Australia.”
Flying Nun Records’ Ben Howe also said:
“We are really stoked to be working to establish a base across the Tasman with Zach at Oh! Jean. He has always been one of our most enthusiastic Flying Nun supporters and owns a fantastic record store. This new partnership will help more Australians to discover our music. It also allows us to operate independently over there, in a similar manner to at home.”

Last year, Flying Nun Records celebrated its 40th anniversary with some special concerts in New Zealand. Since its launch, the record label has released music from acts such as The Bats, The Mint Chicks, and Look Blue Go Purple.
