Five predictions for The Game Awards 2022 (Paramore, Vampire Survivors)

The 2022 installment of The Game Awards goes down tomorrow (December 8) inside Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, and gamers worldwide are excited to see who’ll walk away winners and what exciting games will be announced. Just like last year, we decided to give five predictions for tomorrow’s ceremony. The Game Awards will be livestreamed on various platforms, including The Game Awards’ YouTube and Twitch channels. More information about The Game Awards can be found here.

Vampire Survivors wins Best Debut Indie Game

Released in early access last December, Vampire Survivors managed to rapidly become a gaming sensation early in the year. Merging bullet-hell gameplay with roguelike tactics, Vampire Survivors hit a sweet spot for various streamers and journalists. With its recent Breakthrough Award win at the Golden Joystick Awards, it won't be surprising to see this addictive title land the Best Debut Indie Game win.

Teaser for Bioshock game

A new Bioshock game has been in the works since late 2019. While we could be a couple years away from it being officially released, a nifty teaser could be the perfect way to get fans excited for another entry in the beloved franchise. With Bioshock Infinite dropping in 2013, the new Bioshock game will be the first Bioshock title in over a decade. Fortunately, both new and longtime fans can explore previous Bioshock games with BioShock: The Collection.

Arcane wins Best Adaptation

This year's Game Awards debuts a new category with best adaptation, which focuses on adaptations of video game IPS. Arcane has the best chance of being the inaugural winner of this new category. Released last year on Netflix, Arcane perfectly dives into the League of Legends lore and allows folks who don't play the popular MOBA to be engaged with the story. A second season of Arcane is currently in development.

Paramore will be involved

Over the past few days, Geoff Keighley has shown some admiration for Paramore's recent tweets. Keighley could very well be a huge fan of the band, but one of Paramore's tweets is causing people to believe they'll be involved at The Game Awards. One tweet stated, "The News. 12.8." with photos of a music video shoot. Paramore could debut a new music video at the Game Awards or deliver a special pre-taped performance.

Donkey Kong 64 remake announced

It's no secret that Donkey Kong 64 is a standout title in the Nintendo 64 library. While it's been ignored by The Game Awards for years, loyal fans still shout its name from the top of the mountains any chance they get. With the rapid releases of remakes, a Donkey Kong 64 remake announcement at The Game Awards would break the internet and cause people to run through the streets of Los Angeles in glee. Hearing the colossal cries of "D.K., Donkey Kong" again is enough to make a grown man cry in the Microsoft Theater.
