Five Anime Expo 2022 screenings to check out
This weekend, Anime Expo returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center, and something anime fans always anticipate are the screenings. A slew of films and TV shows will have their premiere at the convention, which means many people packing rooms to get an early glimpse at something cool. We picked out five screenings going down during the convention that’ll leave attendees in awe. Badges for Anime Expo are on sale to the general public right now. Goodbye, Don Glees!
When: July 1 (4 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.)
Where: Regal Cinemas
Goodbye, Don Glees! will have its North American premiere during Anime Expo thanks to GKIDS. Released earlier this year, the film follows a group of boys known as the Don Glees and their lifechanging adventure in Iceland. Tickets will be available one hour before the screening begins. This is a first come, first served event.
The House of the Lost on the Cape
When: July 2 (1:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.)
Where: Regal Cinemas
The U.S. premiere of The House of the Lost on the Cape, which is being distributed by Los Angeles’ Eleven Arts, will take place at Anime Expo. Produced by David Production (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Cells at Work!), the film is based on the Sachiko Kashiwaba novel, which earned the Noma Children's Literature Award in 2016. Tickets will be available one hour before the screening begins. This is a first come, first served event.
Call of the Night season one premiere
When: July 2 (1:30 p.m. - 2:20 p.m.)
Where: JW Marriott Platinum Ballroom
The popular Call of the Night manga series comes to life with an all-new anime produced by Liden Films. While the show is slated to premiere on July 8, HIDIVE will offer an early look of the show before it lands on the streaming service this summer. The room will not be cleared before the panel, so get there early to grab a seat.
Cosplay Universe
When: July 3 (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
Where: Regal Cinemas
Cosplay documentary Cosplay Universe will have its world premiere screening at this summer’s Anime Expo. The documentary, which features Yaya Han and the late Stan Lee, showcases the fascinating world of cosplay through the eyes of those who partake in it. The documentary will be released in theaters this summer followed by a launch on streaming platforms this fall. Tickets will be available one hour before the screening begins. This is a first come, first served event.
Made In Abyss season two premiere
When: July 4 (10 a.m. - 10:50 p.m.)
Where: Main Events
Get up bright and early on Independence Day if you want to check out the season two premiere of Made In Abyss in the Main Events area. The first season of the series earned wins for Anime of the Year and Best Score at the 2018 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The anime will air exclusively on HIDIVE this summer.
