E3 will once again be a virtual event.
Announced today, the video game trade show will be in a virtual state for the second year in a row. The 2020 coronavirus outbreak forced the cancellation of that year’s E3 while last year’s event shifted to a virtual format. Plans for an in-person E3 were set for this year. In a statement to VentureBeat, the ESA stated:
“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022. We remain incredibly excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”
Dates for this year’s virtual E3 will be revealed soon.
