Crunkcore gurus Brokencyde, Millionaires, and The Medic Droid are playing a show in Los Angeles this Saturday
Popular music festival When We Were Young has delivered a slew of nostalgia for those who were part of the Myspace era. This Saturday (March 23), one subgenre birthed from the scene will take over Los Angeles’ Catch One.
Crunkcore groups Brokencyde, Millionaires, and The Medic Droid will perform at the venue courtesy of Subculture Party. Aside from performances from these three acts, there will also be a slew of DJs and live performances in four rooms. Other acts slated to appear include Beebo, Sophie Powers, and Foxteeth. Tickets for this 18+ show are on sale to the general public right now here.
SoCal’s own Millionaires found a slew of fans thanks to their music being featured on MTV shows A Double Shot at Love, Teen Cribs, My Life as Liz, and Skins. Following a trio of EPs, the group delivered their debut album Tonight in 2013. Millionaires would tour North America and Europe alongside acts such as Cash Cash, Set It Off, and Mickey Avalon. Last year, founding member Melissa Marie Green debuted new Millionaires members Meredith Hurley and Anissa Zermeno at So What?! Musical Festival in Dallas, Texas.
Albuquerque’s Brokencyde gained fame back in 2008 with performances on MTV’s Total Request Live and Fearless Music. Aside from an appearance on Warped Tour, Brokencyde toured the country with acts such as Senses Fail, Breathe Carolina, and Drop Dead, Gorgeous. Brokencyde’s last studio album was 2018’s 0 to Brokencyde, which is out on Cleopatra Records.
Phoenix’s The Medic Droid toured the country with The White Tie Affair, Chronic Future, and A Cursive Memory. Their sole studio album Whats Your Medium debuted at number 33 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart upon its 2008 release. Recently, The Medic Droid have been uploading their older material on digital platforms.
