Clockwork Aquario heading to Xbox and PC in summer 2022
Clockwork Aquario will find its way to new consoles this year
Announced on Friday, the title will digitally land on Xbox and Steam sometime this summer. Clockwork Aquario recently earned the Guinness World Record for the longest time between a videogame project start and final release. Development started in 1991 by Westone Bit Entertainment, but it came to a halt in 1997. ININ Games and Strictly Limited Games came together to bring this once forgotten game back to life for gamers worldwide.
Westone co-founder Ryuichi Nishizawa said this about the title's recent release on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch:
“Who would have thought that it would be restored and playable again? I would like to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude to those who have worked so hard to restore it. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this work is a great piece of 2D art, where the pixel artists of that time put their hearts and souls into. I’d be happy if people would appreciate and enjoy it.”
