Chicory: A Colorful Tale remix album released
A remix album based on the video game Chicory: A Colorful Tale has been released.
Chicory: A Musical Tale features special remixes from the Resonant Union community. The 32-track release features special collaborations with bermei.inazawa (Lies of P, DJMAX, Taiko no Tatsujin), composer Kohta Takahashi (Ridge Racer, TEKKEN, Klonoa), and vocalist Emi Evans (NieR, Dark Souls, Granblue Fantasy). The remix album is available on Bandcamp right now here. A special YouTube stream of the album can be found here.
Resonant Union producer Philip Saguil said this about the remix album:
"When I played through Chicory, I saw a reflection of myself in the story. I’m sure this is an experience shared by many. This project is a reflection of my hopes and dreams, shared by the artists who joined me. After pitching Chicory: A Musical Tale to Lena a year ago, we started to explore Picnic Province after the events of Chicory: A Colorful Tale as the seasons pass throughout the year. I asked each arranger to consider what the season associated with their track meant to them personally, and to write as if creating a tone painting with sound. Close your eyes, let the music wash over you, and imagine the colors of the world."
Chicory: A Colorful Tale composer Lena Raine also said:
"When Resonant Union invited me to join the arrange album project for ZeroRanger in 2024, I was delighted to participate in a celebration of the music for a game I really loved. So when they asked me if I'd like to do an arrange album of my own music, the first thing that came to mind was my music for Chicory. Because the thematic core of the game becomes opening up the possibilities of art to be for anyone, it felt like the most obvious choice to share what the world of Chicory might look like with dozens of incredible artists all sharing what their version of the world, and music, might sound like. I would very much love if you'd all join with us in celebrating the joy of art and music together with Chicory: A Musical Tale!"
Released in 2021, Chicory: A Colorful Tale won for Best Family Game at the 18th British Academy Games Awards and Best Foreign Independent Video Game at the Pégases Awards. The game is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox right now.
