Long-running post-punk band Chameleons have finally revealed a release date for their new studio album Arctic Moon today.
The record is slated for a September 12 release on Metropolis Records. Chameleons have also announced a West Coast headlining tour, which kicks off on September 26 at The Crocodile in Seattle. Tickets for the West Coast trek will go on sale to the general public this Friday (May 16) at 10 a.m. local time. Presale tickets will go live starting tomorrow (May 14) at 10 a.m. local time.
Vocalist/bassist Vox said this about the new album and forthcoming headlining tour:
“Our new album Arctic Moon is finally finished and everything is being prepared for its release in mid-September. There’s an obvious maturity to the songwriting on this record. Those that are familiar with our past work will hear that this is a positive step forward in that respect.
We’re all really pleased with how the album has turned out and we’re really looking forward to the challenge of performing songs from the new album live later this year when we begin the Arctic Moon Tour. For the first time, we’ve been able to use real orchestral strings on a couple the songs, which were arranged and performed by Pete Whitfield at Real Strings in Manchester. They’ve given these songs a truly epic quality, and we can’t wait to perform them live. Danny [Ashberry], our keyboard player, is going to need all his skill to help bring this epic quality to the stage and we have every confidence that he can!”
Before their headlining trek, Chameleons will be supporting The Psychedelic Furs on tour starting on June 28. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets for all shows can be purchased here.
