Boston metalcore group Cave In have unveiled their new single “Reckoning” today.

The track, which comes with a Jason Zucco-directed music video, is the first Cave In song fully written by guitarist and founding member Adam McGrath. The musician said this about working on the song:

“‘Reckoning’ started as a demo I sent to the band for consideration while mapping out the track list for Heavy Pendulum. It was inspired by the idea of adding a song to the acoustic/electric live sets Steve and I had been performing on and off for the last 20 years. A fresh song with that set-up (acoustic/electric guitar) seemed exciting to pursue. Somewhere between Led Zeppelin’s ‘Battle of Evermore’ and Mad Season’s ‘Long Gone Day’ is the birth of ‘Reckoning,’ a song about digesting huge loss and forging paths into unknown futures.”

“Reckoning” comes from Cave In’s forthcoming studio album Heavy Pendulum, which arrives on May 20 via Relapse Records. Physical pre-orders for Heavy Pendulum can be made here while digital pre-orders can be made here.

Cave In will promote the tour with a headlining trek across the United States with Author & Punisher as support. This fall, the band will head to Europe with Stake as the supporting band. Tour dates can be seen below.
