After touring together in 2019, Japanese metal band Boris and NYC industrial metal band Uniform are joining forces for a collaborative album.

Revealed today, Bright New Disease will be released on June 16 via Sacred Bones Records. The first single from the album is titled “Bright New Disease,” and it was primarily written by Boris in the summer of 2020 with the assistance of Uniform drummer Mike Sharp.

Boris' Atsuo said this about the new single:

“At that time, we didn't know when we would be able to resume concerts, and our wish became the song directly.”

Boris’s Atsuo and Takeshi collectively said this about Uniform’s musical delivery:

“On tour, we learned more about the depth of their musicality, which we felt was compatible with our own expression. They are a band that can be described in many ways—punk, metal, industrial—but they truly excel because they are not locked into any style. They are always experimenting and innovating.”

Uniform vocalist Michael Berdan said this about being on the road with Boris:

“Uniform have been longtime fans and admirers of Boris. Supporting them on tour was a dream come true. The first time I met Atsuo he was wearing a Gastunk shirt, and Takeshi has schooled me harder on Burning Spirits than any fetishist westerner could ever hope for.”
