Big Big Train have delivered the second single from their forthcoming studio album Woodcut.
Unveiled today, “The Sharpest Blade” finds violinist Clare Lindley and vocalist Alberto Bravin taking turns on vocals. An official music video for the track created by Crystal Spotlight can be seen here. Lindley, who wrote the song’s lyrics, said this about the tune:
“Having gone for a walk in the woods and happened upon an amazing piece of heartwood, lit by a natural beam of sunlight, the Artist has taken it home. In the song ‘The Sharpest Blade’, he begins to carve the heartwood. Although he still has doubts and dark inner thoughts, he finds himself carving a wonderful scene. It’s so good that he feels it is perhaps not of his own hand...”
Woodcut will be released on February 6 via InsideOutMusic. Pre-orders for the release can be made here. Next fall, Big Big Train will embark on a headlining tour across the U.K. and Europe. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now here.
