Aniplex announces Virgin Punk anime

Aniplex Online Fest, which aired last night, has unveiled a new original anime from Kite director Yasuomi Umetsu.
Virgin Punk is very reminiscent of Umetsu’s influential 1998 OVA. The series follows the adventures of bounty hunter Ubu. A reveal trailer can be seen here.
Umetsu will be working on the anime with Shaft Animation Studio, who is best known for their work on the Monogatari and Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchises. Yuya Takahashi, who is best known for their work on the Kamen Rider and Lupin The Third franchises, will write the screenplay for Virgin Punk. Yoshiaki Dewa, who previously worked on Hell’s Paradise, Star Wars: Visions, and the live-action adaptation of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, will compose music for the anime.
In summer 2025, the first part of the series titled Clockwork Girl will be shown at Cine Libre Ikebukuro and Osaka's Theatre Umeda. The voice cast will be revealed in the future. An official website for the anime can be found here.
Since 2009, MP3s and NPCs owner Terrance Pryor has written about music, conventions, cosplay, and video games for publications such as AXS, Examiner, Fake Walls, and Ranker. Based out of Los Angeles, the former rock concert promoter/radio host can be seen talking about rock music on AXS TV’s Music’s Greatest Mysteries and discussing music and whatever else on their Black Man Talks Rock channel on YouTube.
