U.K. indie-folk artist Sirene released their new song “About Love” yesterday.

The track, which can be heard below, was inspired by the passing of a loved one. Sirene further explains:

“[The song is] for my wonderful cousin Jamie, who was sadly taken from us too soon. He was driven by the beautiful songs he wrote, and they were on the whole about love. The week after Jamie died, I sat alone at my family’s piano and this song came out of me in its entirety, just as you hear it in the recording. I felt as if he was in the room with me and we were writing the song together. This song is my promise that Jamie’s positivity and energy will continue in my music, as well as his.”

“About Love” is available on digital services right now. The song is the first piece of music from Sirene since the release of their debut EP Communication Conversation last year.

On July 26, Sirene will perform at London’s Strongroom. Tickets for the show are on sale to the general public right now here.
