The Melvins announce new album 'Tarantula Heart,' release new single "Working the Ditch"

Sludge metal band The Melvins will deliver their 27th studio album this spring.

Revealed today, Tarantula Heart will be released on April 19 via Ipecac Recordings. The five-song, 39-minute album was produced by longtime collaborator Toshi Kasai, and it has an appearance from We Are The Asteroid guitar player Gary Chester.

Vocalist Buzz Osborne said this about the album:

“The way we approached Tarantula Heart was different than any other Melvins’ album. I had Dale and Roy Mayorga come in and play along with Steven and I to some riffs, then I took those sessions and figured out what parts would work and wrote new music to fit. This isn’t a studio approach we’ve ever taken. Usually we have the songs written BEFORE we start recording!”

The first single from the album titled "Working the Ditch" comes with a music video directed by Jesse Nieminen, which can be seen below. Pre-orders for Tarantula Heart can be made here.

The Melvins will spend March performing in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now here.
