The best Los Angeles events for the week of May 6 - May 12

Los Angeles always has a plethora of events going down at every corner. Whether it’s a convention or some local stand-up comedy, there’s always something to do if you’re looking to leave the house. We look at some of the best events going down in Los Angeles this week (May 6 through May 12).

Tuesday, May 7

Bashlow @ The Stowaway (416 S Spring St.)
Doors: 9 p.m. (free tickets) 21+

Rising indie pop artist Bashlow will have a free show at The Stowaway. In February, the artist unveiled their latest single "Pretty Crier." Expect to hear some new music from Bashlow at this gig.

Wednesday, May 8

Augustana, verygently @ Teragram Ballroom (1234 W 7th St.)
Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets)

Orange County's own Augustana head to Teragram Ballroom in support of their new studio album Something Beautiful, which was released in March. Verygently will join them as direct support.

Friday, May 10

Celtic Woman @ Long Beach Terrace Theater (300 E Ocean Blvd.)
Doors: 6:30 p.m. (tickets)

Celtic Woman will bring their 20th anniversary tour to Long Beach for an unforgettable Friday night. The all-female Irish musical ensemble toured worldwide in support of their music and gained several PBS specials in the process. The act's new studio album 20, which commemorates their anniversary, was released back in January.

Saturday, May 11

Tei Shi, Salt Cathedral @ Teragram Ballroom (1234 W 7th St.)
Doors: 6:30 p.m. (tickets)

Indie pop artist Tei Shi will be in town to promote their new studio album Valerie, which is their first album since leaving Downtown Records. Over the years, the artist collaborated with acts such as Glass Animals and Velvet Underground founding member John Cale. Brooklyn alternative pop act Salt Cathedral, who'll be plugging their new album Before It’s Gone, will join as support.

zzzahara, cleanse @ Zebulon (2478 Fletcher Dr.)
Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets) 21+

Los Angeles indie rock artist zzzahara will have a special headlining show at Zebulon before their European tour later this month. The artist is supporting their latest studio album Tender, which was one of our favorite releases of last year. Cleanse and juggler will be the opening acts.

Sami Zayn (Netflix Is A Joke) @ Avalon Hollywood (1735 Vine St.)
Doors: 6:30 p.m. (tickets)

WWE superstar Sami Zayn will have a special comedy show with some special guests at Avalon Hollywood as part of the Netflix Is A Joke festival. A limited number of tickets are left for this event.

Sunday, May 12

Sparta, Object of Affection @ Brain Dead Studios (611 N Fairfax Ave.)
Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets)

Sparta will be in town to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wiretap Scars. Released in 2002, the 12-track album features the singles "Cut Your Ribbon" and "Air." Object of Affection will be the opening act.

Bear McCreary @ Fonda Theatre (6126 Hollywood Blvd.)
Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets)

Composer Bear McCreary is bringing a powerhouse team of musicians to perform their new concept album The Singularity in full. Joining them for this special performance are Slash, Buck Dharma (Blue Öyster Cult), Asdru Sierra (Ozomatli) Gene Holgan (DETHKLOK), Brendan McCreary (Battlestar Galactica), Raya Yarbrough (Outlander), Mega Ran, and Morgan Sorne. The concept album will also have an companion graphic novel released this week through Image Comics.
