The best Los Angeles events for the week of February 12 - February 18

Los Angeles always has a plethora of events going down at every corner. Whether it’s a convention or some local stand-up comedy, there’s always something to do if you’re looking to leave the house. We look at some of the best events going down in Los Angeles this week (February 12 through February 18).

Monday, February 12

The Rural Alberta Advantage @ Troubadour (9081 Santa Monica Blvd.)
Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets)

Canadian indie rock band The Rural Alberta Advantage will bring their North American tour to the Troubaour for a melodic Monday evening. The band will be supporting their recent studio album The Rise & The Fall, which is out on Saddle Creek. Mariel Buckley will be the supporting act for this show.

Friday, February 16

Cruel Kiss, Dildox @ Genghis Cohen (740 N Fairfax Ave)
Doors: 8 p.m. (tickets) 18+

Genghis Cohen will be the spot for local dark electronic madness with Cruel Kiss, Dildox, Losses, and Brood Faye taking the stage with DJ sets from DJ Toast and Nonfiction.

Saturday, February 17

Tournament of Nerds @ Dynasty Typewriter (2511 Wilshire Blvd)
Doors: 9:45 p.m. (tickets) 18+

Co-hosted by Justin Donaldson and Hal Rudnick, Tournament of Nerds brings some of the nerdiest people in Los Angeles together for a showdown to see whose the best fictional character. Each contestant will dress up as their favorite fictional character and debate each other to get closer to the grand finals. The contestants for Saturday's show include Jared Harris (Chernobyl, Mad Men, Foundation), Rich Sommer (Mad Men, Blackberry, Glow), Erika Ishii (Dimension 20), Bri Giger, Marc Andreyko (Movie Trivia Schmoedown), Andres Parada (America’s Got Talent), Caroline Cummings, Allie Arasi, Diego Parada (Modern Family), Jason Wayne Christian (Angie Tribeca), Robin Higgins, Zeyne Guzeldereli (Little America), Jon Barr, and Erik Barnes (Wrestling Pro Wrestling).

Sunday, February 18

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs @ Teragram Ballroom (1234 West 7th Street)
Doors: 7 p.m. (tickets)

U.K. metal group Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs will kick off their winter trek across North America inside Teragram Ballroom. The band will be promoting their latest studio album Land of Sleeper, which includes the return of founding drummer Ewan Mackenzi. Faetooth will be the opening act.

Los Angeles Endless Night Vampire Ball @ Mayan Theater (1038 S Hill Street)
Doors: 9 p.m. (tickets) 21+

The Endless Night Vampire Ball will let folks get their fangs out inside the Mayan Theater. Debuting in 1996, the Endless Night Vampire Ball has become one of the most highly praised parties with events taking place in Paris, Berlin, and Salem. For this event, True Blood's Kristin “Pam” Bauer will be the Mistress of Ceremonies, and there will be a musical performance from Eva O (Christian Death, Shadow Project). As expected, there's a dress code for an event this tantalizing.
