Halloween is arriving next Tuesday, but citizens of Los Angeles have been celebrating early with parties at every turn. If you're looking to get in on the spooky festivities, this weekend is the right time to do it. From improv to block parties, there's plenty to do to celebrate the holiday, and we've got a list of great events to check out. Listed events are for all ages unless specified.

The Shapeshifters @ Hotel Figueroa

English house act The Shapeshifters make their return to Los Angeles for a special Halloween party at Hotel Figueroa. Originally a duo, Simon Marlin has been carrying on under the name with a plethora of singles. The Shapeshifters is best known for the hits "Lola's Theme," "Back To Basics," and "Incredible." Attendees will also be greeted by a b2b set between Clavette and Karam as well as a set from Friends & Disco.

Dia de los Muertos @ Hollywood Forever

Hollywood Forever will deliver two exciting events on Saturday. Dia de los Muertos is a more family-friendly event featuring a children's area, a costume contest, and a handful of performers such as DannyLux, Tradicion Dance Co, Laurie Muñiz, and Miroslava Ferra. The event runs until 3 p.m.

Revenge Of's Comic Creator Block Party @ Revenge Of

Comic book store Revenge Of is holding a huge block party co-hosted by Patton Oswalt & Jordan Blum featuring various names in the comic book world, including Jody Houser, Tess Fowler, and Marc Bernardin. The event, which ends at 9 p.m., will include photo ops, meet and greets, panels, and more. More information about the event can be found here.

Noche de los Muertos @ Hollywood Forever

Noche de los Muertos brings the energy of Dia de los Muertos into the evening with a different lineup of performers. Bratty, Los Yesterdays, and Bomba Estereo are among those slated to take the stage. While the children's area isn't present for the nighttime installment, kids can still enjoy a great time with some eye-catching exhibitions.

Improv troupe The Bearded Company will deliver their bone-chilling improv show The Bearded Dead at Outside In Theatre. Formed in 2006, The Bearded Company has been earning awards in Minneapolis before expanding to Los Angeles in 2014. The cast for The Bearded Dead features Emily Rose Jacobson (Hyper RPG, G4), Steven Molony (The Joker Blogs, God of Work), Andy Hillbrands (Family Values, Aliens from Another Planet!), Michelle King (FriendFiction), Roberto Lewis (Time Traveling Tonya), and Matthew Pitner (Experience Points, The Portal). While the event is free, donations are appreciated.

Skalloween 2023 @ Catch One

Smelvis Records, Concrete Jungle Ent., and Los Goths are joining forces to deliver Skalloween 2023, which will take over all three rooms in Catch One with a bevy of live music and DJ sets. Some of the acts slated to perform at the event include The Dickies, 8 Kalacas, Mad Marge, and Eviction Notice.

Tuesday, October 31

West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2023

The West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval returns for its first event since 2019. The event will take place on an one-mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega Boulevard. A stage between Santa Monica Boulevard and N. San Vicente Boulevard will include a live DJ set, food, and other activities. Ashnikko, Tommy Genesis, Galen Tipton @ Hollywood Palladium

Platinum-selling singer Ashnikko will have a special Halloween show at the Hollywood Palladium in support of their debut album Weedkiller. The artist is best known for their hit singles "Stupid (feat. Baby Tate)," "Daisy," and "Slumber Party (feat. Princess Nokia)." Ashnikko will be joined by Tommy Genesis and Galen Tipton as support.

Yoi Toki: A Future Funk Halloween @ 1720

Yoi Toki: A Future Funk Halloween will bring some of the best future funk tunes to 1720. DJs Jak Syn, Nite Patrol, and 96.FM will be spinning the jams until 2 a.m. The 18+ event will be free until 10 p.m. with an RSVP. Guaranteed entry will cost $15.
