Texas indie-folk act Middle Sattre unveil new single "Dallas"
Texas indie-folk band Middle Sattre have delivered their new single “Dallas” today.
The single is the final taste of the band’s forthcoming studio album Tendencies, which will be released this Friday (February 9) via Sad Tree Records. Vocalist Hunter Prueger said this about the new track:
"Dallas is about an old friend who I had a hand in converting. He later came out to me, and I left the church. I'm not usually one for big guitar solos, but I felt like this one just said everything that I couldn't figure out how to say with words."
An accompanying music video for the track, which can be seen below, was animated by Middle Sattre keyboardist S. Wallace. The musician said this about working on the visual with Prueger:
"Hunter came up with the idea for the video's overall pattern—little drawings appearing, moving around, and then disappearing. I had Hunter send me all the random footage he could find on his phone and spent a lot of time excavating my own archives, so it ended up being this patchwork of both of our memories. Shared Austin memories, individual Utah and Iowa and Michigan and Tennessee memories. Ones that are serious and ones that are silly. All of it equally meaningless and meaningful. What it feels like when you already house so much grief and joy and life says, 'Good morning! Here's another tomorrow for you. Keep moving.'"
Pre-orders for Tendencies can be made here. This Saturday (February 10), Middle Sattre will have a free record release show at Austin’s Radio Cofee & Beer (South) with support from Some Say Leland and Brother Nielsen. Tickets are available to the general public right now here. Middle Sattre will also perform at SXSW 2024 in March. Additional tour dates will be announced soon.
