Rough Trade NYC opening new Rockefeller Center store in June
Rough Trade NYC will be heading to Rockefeller Center next month.
Announced today, the store will have its grand opening in its new location on June 1. Rough Trade NYC recently shut down their Williamsburg location. In a press statement, Rough Trade co-owner Stephen Godfroy said:
“Following the impact of COVID-19, Rough Trade’s decision to relocate reflects a wider reimagination of cities worldwide. Manhattan has a glorious history of great record stores. Now there’s an exciting present as well. The opportunities afforded by the pandemic in the reconfiguration of central city districts have brought us, counter-intuitively, to the heart of New York, an area barren of record stores for years. But Rough Trade’s instinct has always been to surprise!”
With their new move comes bigger opportunities. Rough Trade NYC will be hosting live events at the Rainbow Room and the Plaza. For now, music lovers can subscribe to Rough Trade NYC’s mailing list for updates on future live shows.
