New Zealand alternative folk artist Reb Fountain has dropped their new song “Foxbright” yesterday.

The track comes with an accompanying music video directed by Reb’s daughter Lola. When it comes to the new song/video, the artist said:

“After releasing ‘reb fountain’ from the confines of my home last year, I never imagined I’d be back here, reaching out to you from isolation. Yet here we are, here I am. I wrote FOXBRIGHT in our last lockdown and sharing it with you feels especially prescient right now.

The burrow is the place we run to when in headlights, when faced with the impossible in ourselves and in the world. The mosque lamp is where I leave my love for you should I be hiding. Foxbright is who we are in the face of it all. Of all the songs off of IRIS Foxbright tells the story I most want to share with you right now.

Fittingly Lola and I made the music video for Foxbright in my burrow - my home - dressing the set like a re-imagined blanket fort we borrowed a 16mm film projector and mapped industry on body.

When I played ‘Foxbright’ to Dave Khan he said, ‘That melody is the bass line.’ I love that about the chorus; it’s a subtle and hypnotic imprint fully formed.”
