Alternative prog rock band Pure Reason Revolution will unveil their sixth studio album in September.

Announced today, Coming Up To Consciousness is slated for a September 6 release on InsideOutMusic. For this album, the band worked with members of English prog rock band The Pineapple Thief; Bruce Soord mixed the album, Steve Kitch mastered the album, and Jon Sykes played bass on a track. The opening track for the album titled “Dig Till You Die” comes with a music video, which can be seen here.

Vocalist Jon Courtney said this about the release:

“Spawned from the bereavement after my dog was put down, a numb & dry creative spell ensued, but after a meeting with my writer friend Craig Walker (Archive/Power of Dreams) & sharing how the last months had been, he urged me to get this experience down in lyrics & music. Suddenly the album flew out of me/us! In terms of recording process, this album was probably the most enjoyable to make, with the various collaborations firing creativity.”

The record also features vocalist Annicke Shireen, who is best known for their work in Heilung and Shireen. The singer stepped in for original Pure Reason Revolution member Chloe Alper, who was unable to rejoin the group due to a packed schedule. Guitarist Greg Jong said this about having Shireen on the record:

"They're impossible shoes to fill in a lot of ways. But we were just blown away with how good she is. We were really excited by the fact that vocally she does have a similar tone to Chloe, and yet she definitely holds her own.”
