PAX East 2024: Five panels worth checking out

PAX East 2024 goes down this weekend at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, and thousands of gamers will take over the center to meet friends, check out forthcoming games, and meet their favorite personalities. The convention will also deliver a plethora of panels for those looking for something informative, fun, and memorable. We look at five panels worth catching at PAX East 2024, which runs from March 21 through March 24. Saturday badges are sold out, but four-day badges (along with Thursday, Friday, and Sunday badges) are still on sale here.

Mega Man X: The Maverick Draft

Reddit makes its way to PAX East as /r/MegaMan administrators OneOneTwo and Rhythm along with Rockman Corner founder Protodude team up for a panel all about those dastardly Mavericks from the Mega Man X series. After choosing a team of eight Mavericks, the audience will decide which one has the most potential to take down Mega Man.

Remembering Pokémon Live: The (Nearly) Lost Pokémon Musical

When most people think of Pokémon, they normally reminisce about the video games, animated shows, and theatrical movies. Many people are unaware of the almost-forgotten Pokémon musical. Debuting in the United States in 2001, Pokémon Live! featured Broadway actors Andrew Rannells, Dominic Nolfi, and Dee Roscioli portraying beloved Pokémon characters. How Pikachu Nearly Took Broadway documentary creators Jamie Elms and Jonii Vee will discuss this peculiar venture in the beloved Pokémon franchise. Y'all Means All: Video Games in the South

While franchises such as Alone In The Dark and Nancy Drew took pride in being set in the South, the region always seems to be overlooked when it comes to solid representation in video games. Kate Sánchez (Editor-In-Chief, But Why Tho?), Abby Sherlock (Associate Game Producer, RIOT), Charles Singletary Jr. (Senior PR Specialist, Evolve PR), and Kenneth Shepard (Journalist, Kotaku) will join forces to discuss why the South needs to have a stronger presence in video games in the future.

Bioshop Infinite will deliver some of your favorite tunes from video games, TV, and film in celebration of their 10-year anniversary. The barbershop quartet have been a grand mainstay at PAX East, and for this year’s event, they're getting a bigger room with a performance at Bobcat Theatre.

Low HP: Evaluating the Accuracy of Medicine in Video Games (13+)

When it comes to situations involving medicine, some video games take an unreal approach to patching up a wound whether it's a stim pack from Fallout or a mushroom from Super Mario. A panel of medical students from Penn State College of Medicine will come together to discuss the honest truth about medicine and illness found in video games.
