Orbital team up with The Mediaeval Baebes for "Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song)"
English electronic act Orbital dropped their new single “Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song)” yesterday.
For the single, Orbital joined forces with vocal group The Mediaeval Baebes. An accompanying music video for the song, which can be seen below, was directed by Luke Losey.
Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll said this about the new song, which is out on digital services right now:
“It was a track made in the pandemic and I felt a real pull to use the vocal from Ring O’Roses, the original pandemic song from the Middle Ages. It made me feel a connection with all those who suffered before without the help of our modern technology. The music reflects the modern world while The Mediaeval Baebes vocals take us back to the times it has happened before, an old song becomes relevant again."
"Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song)" is the second single (and opening track) from Orbital’s forthcoming album Optical Delusion, which is slated for a February 17. Pre-orders for the album can be made here. The 10-track album is the follow-up to Orbital’s 2018 studio album Monsters Exist, which peaked at number nine on the U.S. Heatseekers Albums chart.
